Holistic Wellness at Your Fingertips

I’m going out on a limb to say that what we’re doing to care for our health and our family’s health isn’t working. Studies report an alarming number of children are being diagnosed with more lifestyle-induced conditions than ever before. Teenagers are experiencing severe depression unlike no other generation prior. Adults are living with chronic ailments that make it hard to keep up with the demands of life.

As a Board-Certified Holistic Health Practitioner, my life’s mission is to equip people with the tools necessary for them to become their own health and life coach. I’ve had great success in helping hundreds of families manage over 80% of their needs by using plant-based solutions, therefore reserving their visits to their primary care physician for routine wellness checkups rather than for every cough, sniffle, and sneeze.

Nature Has Always Had the Answer

Essential oils contain aromatic chemical compounds that connect with the trillions of cells in your body in a manner unlike anything else. The chemical constituents that are the backbone of each essential oil have unique properties that support your body in different ways.

The monoterpene, limonene, found in oils such as lemon, grapefruit and other citrus extracts has a very uplifting effect on the body and mind. Oils with limonene as their primary constituent have been used aromatically for centuries by individuals who experience a frequency of low moods and emotional energy. When taken internally*, limonene boosts immune function and supports your body’s naturally ability to cleanse itself.

The monoterpene, 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol), found in eucalyptus and a few others offers restoring benefits, which is why eucalyptus oil is energetically known as the Oil of Healing. Its support to the respiratory system makes this oil a powerful ingredient in products that promote clear, easy breathing.

Meanwhile, the sesquiterpene, caryophyllene, provides soothing support. Copaiba’s chemical makeup is over 50% caryophyllene, making it a staple in your natural solutions cabinet. Oils in this category can be used topically, aromatically, and internally* whenever soothing comfort is required by any physical body system (i.e. muscular, digestive) and when emotional comfort is in need.

Supporting Your Emotional Needs

Part of what you’ll catch me doing regularly is teaching people to use aromatherapy to improve their emotional health. In future blogs, I’ll share more about specific topics, but for now, here’s a list of what some of the top 10 oils can do for your emotional state.

Breathe, Respiratory Blend. This beautiful blend helps decrease the feeling of constricted breathing and heavy-heartedness (“elephant on chest”, is how I’ve heard it described by my clients). It promotes feelings of openness, healing and embracing life when you apply it to your chest and inhale its aroma from your fingertips.

DigestZen Digestive Blend. When you’re feeling overstimulated, emotionally overwhelmed or struggling with new experiences, gently massage a little bit over your belly area and inhale from your palm to promote a sense of adjustment and assimilation.

Lavender. This has been used for centuries by people experiencing feelings of nervousness and anxiousness. It is a very calming oil. Rub behind ears and on wrists, inhale to relax your senses and begin to feel a wave of calm and tranquility wash over you.

Lemon. Sometimes you may feel scattered, confused and unable to focus on the things that matter. When this happens, twist open the bottle and take a whiff. Apply to wrists and temples to help you create a sense of focus, mental clarity and alertness.

Peppermint. Works very much like Breathe when you’re experiencing the heavy-hearted sensations, except this comes with a jolt of energy so use this during the day when you’re feeling paralyzed by circumstances. It wakes up your heart and your senses and helps you feel open and ready for life!
